Strategic planning resulted in:

Visibility of available resources.

Key organizational documents, including the organization’s charter and by-laws, were introduced and contextualized to all members of leadership, thereby creating alignment on foundational principles of the GPSA.

Clear deliverables.

With tactics, objectives, and goals determined and aligned, leadership was provided a framework for creating a structural environment conducive to achieving them. Tasks, owners, and deadlines were assigned by facilitators based on discussion from the workshops.

Alignment on goals and objectives.

Executive staff and committee leadership each developed specific goals and objectives for their areas of responsibility based on organizational-level goals developed first by the group at large and inspired by the GPSA’s charter and by-laws.

A plan for succession.

All workshop tools, decks, worksheets, and facilitation guides were provided to GPSA leadership in addition to blank templates for use by future leadership. As a student-led organization, GPSA leadership experiences frequent turnover after graduation.

Organizational buy-in.

Leadership was given the tools to then host their own GPSA-wide organizational meeting, the first of its kind, to solicit buy-in on high-level goals and objectives and to ideate tactics in collaboration with all members.
